Down to the Line

Well, I just got done with my weekly check up and I met the last of the midwives who could probably be on call when I go into labor. I really liked this midwife and if I'd known them before I chose I would have chosen her to be my regular midwife because she was so enjoyable to be around and a little less kooky than the midwife I've been seeing. Don't get me wrong, I still love my midwife, but she's a little weird.

Anyway, I'll be 38 weeks on Thursday and everyone I know who was pregnant with me and farther along than me has had their baby, so I guess that makes it my turn. Or at least, I hope that I'm next for the health of Lyndsie and her baby :). It is a surreal thing to sit here and not really feel like much has changed but know that the baby could come anytime (even though he probably won't do me the favor of coming before his due date).

At my appointment just barely the midwife felt my stomach for a little bit after measuring my uterus and listening to my baby's heartbeat. She said she thinks he's probably about 7 lbs 4 oz and that he'll probably start dropping in the next week. 7 lbs 4 oz??? And everyone thinks I'll go to or over my due date? ok baby boy, we need to have a talk. Just because your dad was 8lbs too many oz. doesn't mean you have to be too. Remember your cousin Cade? Don't you miss him? Aren't you ready to see him again? He was small, you can be too. It's ok, you can grow more after you get out, it doesn't mean you'll always be the smallest guy in class if you come out small. These are the types of talks I have with my baby. I don't know if he's catching my drift though.

It was interesting though, when the midwife went to measure me she said, "oh, you're having a contraction right now" (this was following her asking me if I've been having many contractions and me telling her some but I don't really know.). Well this was news to me. It was cool to have her tell me that so I know what to watch for I guess. I just thought my baby was stretching out or something... nope, that's a contraction.

Anyway, the moral of the story is that I'm ready and waiting. Tyler comes home from work and says, things like "oh you didn't have the baby yet?" or "oh, you're still pregnant" and lately it's been "have the baby already" haha thanks love, I'm working on it. So I'll let you know when he's here and then we'll tell everyone what name we choose, but until then, we won't know his name and we're just going to wait to see him. Thanks again for everyone's love and support!

I don't remember talking to my un-born babies. Maybe it has been too long ago. I am glad you are talking and I hope he will obey. Love you - Grandma Bushman

7 lbs? That's tiny! My boys just laughed and passed it right up. Good luck! I'm sure everything is going to go great and you are going to be an awesome mom.
